Desert Hot Springs, Riverside County
Desert Hot Springs sits on the north side of the Coachella Valley, on a slope below the Little San Bernardino Mountains, looking across at Mount San Jacinto. A branch of the San Andreas Fault runs through town and separates two aquifers, one hot and one cold, which is why the city has both mineral spas and its own supply of drinking water. Joshua Tree National Park lies in the mountains behind it.
